Microbio is pleased to announce the signing of a new distribution agreement with Abalat, an established distributor of molecular and clinical diagnostics in Mexico. This strategic partnership will see Abalat appointed as Microbio’s exclusive distributor for the InfectID™-BSI diagnostic platform throughout the Mexican market.

With over 21 years of leadership in delivering innovative clinical laboratory technologies, Abalat is ideally positioned to bring Microbio’s advanced diagnostics to healthcare institutions across Mexico. Abalat provides a broad portfolio of laboratory solutions spanning clinical diagnostics, research, and high-specialty medical services.

“We are delighted to partner with Abalat to introduce our InfectID™-BSI platform to laboratories throughout Mexico,” said Paul Rainey, Distributor Manager at Microbio. “Their deep understanding of the molecular diagnostics landscape, extensive regional network, and commitment to quality make them the perfect partner to deliver our technology to clinicians who need faster, more accurate tools to identify bloodstream infections and improve patient outcomes.”

“Our partnership with Microbio represents an important step in addressing the urgent challenge of sepsis by introducing the InfectID™-BSI platform to hospitals and laboratories nationwide. At Abalat, we are dedicated to advancing healthcare in Mexico through the integration of innovative and clinically impactful technologies. By enabling earlier, more accurate diagnoses, this solution supports clinicians in making timely treatment decisions, improves patient outcomes, and aligns with national priorities for antimicrobial stewardship and quality of care,” said Mario Abad, CEO at Abalat.

InfectID™-BSI is a rapid molecular diagnostic test that identifies 26 pathogens responsible for >94% of bloodstream infections resulting in sepsis. Leveraging DNA melt curve analysis, InfectID™-BSI detects pathogens directly from blood samples without the need for culture, delivering results in just three hours. This CE-marked assay empowers clinicians to begin targeted treatment sooner, improving outcomes and supporting antimicrobial stewardship.

This agreement with Abalat represents an important milestone in the company’s global growth strategy.
